My coffee cup, borrowed from my sweet sister in law, Kelly. I had to have the one with the moose!
About a year ago my husband and his best friend, David, decided they’d celebrate their 60th birthdays at Rob’s sister Kelly’s home in Talkeetna, Alaska this August. And of course a year ago I was in no position to ask if I could come along. But, when we got our most recent good news about Mr. Lucky, I did. I said, “Could I pretty please crash your boys trip?” and here I am.
I’m a lucky girl. And I’m married to a great guy.
Robert, David, and I got to the airport in Anchorage yesterday and were greeted with the most wonderful surprise: Rob’s daughter Jenna is here from London!
Jenna is the beauty on the left, obviously.
Jenna is studying at the University of Westminster in London and I haven’t seen her since all of this “stuff” started with Mr. Lucky. I almost fainted with happiness (and utter surprise) when she walked up to me at the airport. She’s very thin (no one likes her lol) and I nearly squeezed her to death with my bear hugs.
Speaking of bears…
We saw a moose on our way to Kelly’s. Sadly, I didn’t get a photo of it but I did get some others. And Alaska is as beautiful as everyone says it is.
See this “beach” above? It’s not exactly a beach. When the tide comes in it will reach the spot where I took this photo (and the video below) from. If you on are on the “beach” when that happens, you’ll drown. People do all the time.
And of course Jenna and David went right down and put their feet in!
I honestly can’t believe I’m here. The scenery is spectacular. Kelly’s home is gorgeous and, gardening friends, her gardens are so pretty. Pictures to come when it stops raining. It started last night and I’m camped out by the wood burning stove relaxing and writing this post.
Wood burning stove. Hot coffee in a moose cup. Relaxation. And writing. Life is good.
Back at you soon!
xo
